Under Florida Statute Section 893.135(1)(e), Trafficking in Methaqualone occurs when the defendant sells, delivers, manufactures, or possesses 200 grams or more of methaqualone.
In Jacksonville, Florida, trafficking in methaqualone carries a minimum mandatory sentence which depends on the amount of methaqualone involved. If the amount of methaqualone trafficked is 200 grams, but less than 5 kilograms, the minimum mandatory sentence is 3 years. Greater than 5 kilograms, but less than 25 kilograms of methaqualone carries a sentence of seven years. Anything more than that carries a sentence of 15 years in Florida State Prison.
