Under Florida Statute Section 893.135(1)(b), Trafficking in Cocaine occurs when the defendant sells, delivers, manufactures, or possesses 28 grams or more of cocaine.
In Jacksonville, Florida, trafficking in cocaine carries a minimum mandatory sentence which depends on the amount of cocaine involved. If the amount of cocaine trafficked is 28 grams, but less than 200 grams, the minimum mandatory sentence is 3 years. Greater than 200 grams, but less than 400 grams of cocaine carries a sentence of seven years. Greater than 400 grams, but less than 150 kilograms of cocaine has a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years. Anything more than that carries a sentence of life in Florida State Prison.
