According to Florida Statute Section 414.39(1), a person commits Jacksonville Public Assistance Fraud if he or she knowingly:

1. fails to disclose a material fact when applying for state or federal public assistance;
2. fails to disclose a change in circumstances while on public assistance; or
3. aid or abets another person in committing an act listed above.  

Jacksonville Public Assistance Fraud can be a misdemeanor or a felony.  The fraud charge is a felony if the value of the assistance wrongfully obtained is worth $200 or more over a 12 month period.  If the value of the assistance is less than $200, the fraud is a misdemeanor.
